Spring Valley Chorus Leadership

Spring Valley Chorus thrives because of the energy and style of the people who have stepped up to lead.  Here are a few of the people that make our ensemble tick:

 

Terri Calvert -- Management Team Coordinator

 

Terri joined Spring Valley Chorus in 1997 when the group was a community chorus.  She was on the first management team beginning in 1997 and served in the combined roles of marketing/public relations, membership and performance coordinator.  Her service to the chorus has been mainly in the marketing/PR and performance areas and she has served on the management team for 11 of the 14 years she has been a member of this chorus.  She is currently the longest tenured member of the chorus.  Terri is also our script writer, emcee, sound system guru and resident techie.  Terri's Spring Valley experience began with her singing Bass.  She is now a Lead, has been in two quartets and has made the big step up on the regional contest stage in a quartet and lived to tell about it.  Terri is a dual member with the Choral Aires Chorus in Elmhurst.

Anna Giallombardo -- Membership Coordinator -

Anna has been a long time attendee of the Barbershop Harmony Society and Sweet Adelines International conventions. Her parents have been in the barbershop world for a very long time and that's how she was introduced into the passion of barbershop harmony singing at a very young age. Being a "barbershop brat" for a long time gave her the will to join Sweet Adelines in 2010. Since then, Spring Valley Chorus has been her second home. Anna is currently 21 years old, has two older siblings and a cute poodle named Chester.  She graduated from Glenbrook South High School and currently goes to Oakton Community College. She continues to pursue her careers in the fashion, modeling and skincare industries, currently working on her Fashion Merchandising Associate's degree and Bachelor of Science in Cosmetics and Fragrance Marketing at FIT in New York City. Five words that would describe her: outgoing, charismatic, diligent, assertive and trendy. Anna is a kind-hearted person and enjoys meeting new people.

 

 

 

 

Renee Juvan -- Performance Coordinator    

Renee has been a member of Sweet Adelines and Spring Valley Chorus since 2004.  She sings bass and fills in occasionally on baritone.  Renee has been a singer all her life, generally in church and school choruses and working with/directing youth choirs.  Renee was a teacher for 22 years teaching math and language arts and religion.  After she retired from teaching, she began her career as an administrative/executive assistant.  She has a wonderful husband, Joe, and a dog, Tiffany, and a cat, Mouse.  Renee also belongs to Riverport Chorus in Bristol, WI, where she serves on the Music Team as a bass section leader.  In whatever spare time is left, she likes to read (love that Kindle) and do sewing and crafts.

 

Gina Strafford-Ahmed -- Financial Coordinator  

Gina has a backgrand in government finance and accounting. Currently she manages a budget/Federal Grant of $850,000: budget, pays invoices, monitos expenditures, completes invoices and approves payments. she has held not-for-profit leadership positions of secretary, vice-president and president for the following boards: Parent's Alliance Employment Project, Illinois Alliance of Information and Referral, 2-1-1 Illinois, and Illinois Ventures in Community Action. Current Vice President and Executive Committee Member of Illinois Ventures in Community Action. Current Secretary for the 2-1-1 Illinois board. Currently, she is a board member for Illinois Alliance of Information and Referral and Parent's Alliance Employment Project. Gina is a * Certified Public Manager: with training in accounting, budgeting, human resources, leadership and governance. She manages a staff of fourteen, plus one intern.

Pam Nicpan -- Marketing/Publicity Coordinator 

 

Pam joined the Spring Valley Chorus in December of 2011.

She started out as a Lead and became a Tenor after the High-Low contest. Pam has also sung in a church choir and all through her high school years. Pam has a background of over 20 years working in the health-care field.

She has worn many hats, caregiving, teaching, directing, problem solving and recently marketing. Pam even dabbled in catering for awhile. Pam is married and has two children.  She is also a proud Grandmother to 1-year old Bella.

 

Pat Spilotro -- Secretary and Commincations Coordinator   

 

Pat joined Spring Valley Chorus in September, 2002 and was active on the hospitality committee. She served as Secretary from 2004-2008. Before her second term was over as Secretary, she took over the Team Coordinator position job and held that position until October 2010. Pat was also a member of ChoralAires Chorus for several years. Pat is a retiree of United Airlines and held many positions including administrative assistant, ticket and gate agent, and presidential suite fill-in.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Suzi Nicklas -- Member at Large

 

Over the past forty years, Suzi has been a member in five different choruses. She served as a section leader for fifteen years. She also served as a board member and an officer in Country Chords Chorus. Additionally, Suzi has been show chairman three times, ticket chair two timesand has held other miscellaneous positions as well.
